Top teams in ERA+ in the AL/NL since 1900

The list is dominated by the Cubs of the 19 aughts and the Dodgers of the last 3 years. No other team stands out like they do. The 1942-44 Cardinals are the only other team to appear in 3 straight years. But two of those were war years.

This is just not pitching. Good fielding plays a role here, too. So the two best teams, by far, in preventing runs over a period of three years are clearly the 1905-07 Cubs and the 2020-22 Dodgers.

The Cubs averaged 146.67 and the Dodgers averaged 145.33 (just a simple average). It might be too close to call. Maybe the Cubs should get the edge since 2020 was a short season.

The next highest would be the 1942-44 Cardinals with 133.67. They are pretty far back and, again, 1943 & 44 were WAR years.
