OPS+ And ERA+ For Each Of The Last 15 World Series Winners

The numbers are in the table below along with their rank in their league in each stat. 7 teams, including the last 4, ranked higher in OPS+ than ERA+. Each stat is adjusted for park effects and league average (although for OPS+, both leagues get measured against the MLB average, as far as I can tell and is measure only against non-pitchers). All stats from Baseball Reference (BR).

For NL teams, their average OPS+ is 100.5. That looks just average but when you look at BR seasonal pages, the league average for the NL is usually 93-94 (because, I think, that team OPS, which includes pitchers, is measured against the MLB total). So if we added about 6 points to each team, we would be at about 106.5. They averaged 105.75 in ERA+. So they do about as well in hitting as they do in pitching (fielding included).

The AL teams averaged 107.14 in OPS+ and 114.71 in ERA+. The 2005 White Sox skew the results a bit. Take them out and OPS+ averages 109.17 and ERA+ averages 113.
