The highest SO/H ratios for guys with 100+ IP

I used Stathead and called up all the guys with 10.4+ SO/9IP (189) and then all the guys with 6.3 or fewer H/9IP (177). Here are all the cases of a 2.0 or higher SO/H ratio:

  1. Perhaps an easier way to use Stathead is to search for search for pitcher seasons with strikeouts >= 2 x hits with and with IP >= 100, raise or lower the number 2 until you get a reasonable number of pitchers, and then download into Excel and sort.

100+ IP struck me as a bit of an idiosyncratic choice. When I clicked on Qualified for League ERA title, that also led to odd results: Bieber, Bauer and Limit from the shortened 2020 season and YTD 2023 season from Strider, none of which are really what I'd like either. For non-shortened seasons among pitchers qualifying for the ERA title, the leaders are 2019 Garret Cole and 2000 Pedro Martinez, with Martinez' season being more impressive as explained in your June 10 post.
