How do teams do after two straight years of a .600+ winning percentage? (The Twins so far have the worst record in 100 years for these cases)

Here is how the table below works. If we look at the first team, the Atlanta Braves of 1992-93, the .596 listed for Season 3 is their winning percentage in 1994 (the season after two straight years of .600+).

Sometimes a team had three straight years with .600 or better. So that would be two actual cases. Then you can see the Season 3 pct. listed in the table for the first of those two cases.

There are seven cases in the table with a Season 3 record below .500 out of 105 occurrences. Those are all in red and bold. Teams are listed alphabetically. All data is from Stathead and Baseball Reference.

The Twins so far this year have the 3rd lowest winning percentage ever after having back to back .600+ seasons at .407. Of course, last year was only a 60 game season (and they have only played 59 games so far in 2021). They might not be in the mix if there had  been a normal 162 game season last year. But they are, in fact, the reason I did this study.

The lowest is the 1913-14 A's at .283 in 1915. That is because Connie Mack sold off his stars after they lost the 1914 World Series in four straight to the Boston Braves.

Next lowest is the 1919-20 White Sox at .403 in 1921. Many of their stars were banned as a result of the Black Sox scandal involving bribes to lose the 1919 World Series.

The next lowest is the 1934 Senators at .434.
